KPS,
I have my Cal 29 in Beverly harbor. It has an old Farymann one lunger diesel that works but am expecting it to quit any time.
I want to repower with electric and have the same concerns as you. For 90% of my use, the electric will be fine. Cruising and needing to go long distance against the wind concerns me. One option that I have heard some people suggest is taking a portable genset with you on cruises.
Would like to compare notes and please keep me updated on your decisions and progress.
