It does look interesting. I don't have any facts but will attend a boat show this weekend where mastervolt will be present and hopefully display the pod motor.
I talked to mastervolt in february regarding their electric motors. Got an offer with a complete install (direct drive motor, prop, 200amp 48v agm-batteries, 50amp 48v charger and all sorts of electric gadgets). It was priced at 10.000 dollars. The good thing about mastervolt is that it is a world spread company and you can order parts from your local boat equipment store. If installed by a certified mastervolt engineer - you would have 2-3 years of warrenty and support.
It's still a bit pricy for me. I like the pod idea and I hope it will turn out to be cheaper. I know there has been another company producing pods and they went out of business - but mastervolt is a very large company and if warranty is included.. it seems like a good idea. Would like to have it installed so it could turn with my rudder then, just imagine the control you would have docking!

Jeppan
