Re: [electricboats] 15 KW DC l electric conversikon

Thanks, Michael and Larry ...
Fish Paper...?  I had to look it up!  But having done so, I'm not clear why one would wrap a prismatic cell in it.  Metal, cylindrical cells, maybe, but the CALB prismatics I'm using are cased in plastic which seems to obviate the need for more insulation between the cells restrained within a box.  I don't see any harm in it, but what's the benefit.  Thinking about Larry's application, wouldn't wrapping the cylindrical cells in Fish paper, and also shrink-wrapping the bank of cells tend to encourage even greater heat retention?  The voltages, charging rates, and discharge rates aboard a sailboat aren't even close to those of an electric car, and it may be that the amount of heat generated during charging will never rise to a hazardous point.  That appears to be Larry's experience.

Maybe this is topic for a separate discussion item: does anyone have an experience aboard a sailboat where their batteries overheated during charging or discharging while running?
