RE: [Electric Boats] Battery replacement

Steve,
Depending on conditions, with my generator I can motor at around 3 knots, plus +/- .5 knots without drawing from the batteries. With the generator running, the charger puts out about 45 amps DC max. My total bank capacity is 520 Ah (260 Ah/string), 260 Ah usable at the 20 hours rate, which I would rarely fall under. Yes, I really do need both strings. So, as you can see I either need a fairly large bank, a smaller bank that can tolerate deeper discharges than 50-60%, or a bigger AC generator, or step up to a nice DC generator.
