The 2/0 DC cables you would need to get from on deck to the batteries might run as much as the generators themselves!   Air cooled generators will need to live on deck.  It is a shame there are no reasonably priced water cooled DC generators.

I called the contact info, and was told they will rig for whatever output you need.  Hope that is still up-to-date.
 
And just to be interesting, Here is a small diesel genset rated at 23VDC & 39-69 Amps, depending on the model.  I think it would be too large though.

I'm wondering if this generator should be part of any 48v installation.  With 2800w continious dc output it looks like the ticket to sustained operation:
