Re: [Electric Boats] Ridding Currents - Sun Powered Duffy

I will get some details on the boat and share it with the group. There are Trojan 105s in every possible covered spot on the boat. The motor is a newer design and I suspect it is a BLDC direct drive mounted on the sail drive. I am surprised that the solar panels can keep such a large battery bank charged.

Ridding Currents is a sun powered Duffy boat that has become a bit of a legend as it have moved out of the harbor and goes off shore. This boat has traveled from Santa Barbara to Ensenada, 324 miles, and has already done a 100 mile non stop trip powered only by the sun. There is no dock power, only solar to charge the batteries.
