I've wondered how much incoming energy is lost by mounting them vertically....say along the sides of the boat where the panels obviously lose primary sun, but gain in reflected light. I guess anyone can figure out the theoretical from Jan Kreider's formulas, but real world data is more interesting. And it dominates.
