Re: [Electric Boats] Torqeedo Electric Outboard on a Catalina 30

matey, one does not need the exact battery to run it. and in New Caledonia, ( I am  Aussie, me-self) one can get numerous good batteries , and even Li-Ion types. But any 'ol string of wet "flooded" batteries to make up 48 vdc ot 72 Vdc whatever your motor wants will work just fine & dandy, eh mate? I've a string of golf cart batteries and a wind generator keepin 'em topped up now.

One word of caution about the batteries : I bought a 503S two years ago, paid this engine in France and had it sent to New Caledonia where there is no Torqeedo dealer. The engine had not been checked by the dealer and when I opened the box I found a dead battery. A new battery is very expensive and due to security reasons (lithium-ion) may not be transported by plane, which means that the guarantee is nearly useless. Two years later this engine is still unusable and I had to replace it by a Yamaha gas engine bought locally...
