As long as the connection doesnt create a problem. A series string needs to be made with the same capacity cells. Higher voltage enables a smaller current drain depending on how the power is managed. For example a buck regulator, as long as Vmax is not exceeded, draws the lowest current from the highest voltage. If the string is 200AH and you add a 100AH unit the entire string is now limited to 100AH because exceeding this will reverse bias the 100AH unit destroying it. A solution to this, using a switching regulator, would be to remove the 100AH unit when it is flat and then continuing on the shortened string.
