Re: [Electric Boats] Outboard conversion

Cloud,

Have you looked at the rudder mounted pods available from the trolling motor mfgs. That might solve your aesthetic problems.

I'm building an 18' Cape Cod Catboat, and am determined to have an electric drive for it. Hanging any kind of motor from the transom of a classic design doesn't appeal at all, so have been exploring skeg/keel mounted options. The ED drive from Glen-L -

The closest I can find are two members of this forum who have replaced the IC engine of an outboard with a Mars electric motor. They have posted in the Photo section- they are:

I would really like to make contact with them to find out how well this has worked out for them, and what specific motor, controls, etc. they used. I'm not an electronics person at all, but I've found that a company named ThunderStruck offers a complete motor/controller, etc. package that appears to be pretty straight-forward.
Any info on this approach would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
