A vigorous web search will reveal a lot of electric drive systems not discussed much or at all on this forum. Elco is only one of them.
There was a vendor recently that spoke about them but I don't recall who it was. Perhaps he will chime in and give us some inside info on the system because their website, while full of information, leaves out a lot of important details.
They are also a factory installed option on several models of Hunter sail boats.

There is a repower article in Wooden Boats this month where they used a 40KW Elco motor. I haven't seen anyone on the list using these, didn't know the company was still around. Anyway, the guy is happy with his setup although to me it seems it's probably twice as much power as he really needs.
