[Electric Boats] reduction

uncharted waters: converting lightweight commercial skiff to electric, currently (npi) powered by Briggs 16 hp gas engine turning a 12x12 (3) blade Michigan through a 2:1 reduction on an inch & a half shaft. The Miss Mullet weighs in around 750-800 lbs. fully loaded, pushes easy (1/2" crook in her bottom) and has a 6" tunnel & skeg w/shoeing to hold & shield the rudder/wheel. What size electric motor to turn the same wheel w/2:1 reduction somewhere around 1250-1500 rpm on the shaft? Where might you find an in-line reduction gear that would fit say, a golf cart motor of the right hp & rpm? We have ample room for (6)-6volt batteries and the other stuff. This is a small but efficient fishing rig that operates in the estuaries in the mid-Atlantic.
