I was seriously considering running regular outboards on propane - a much simpler fuel in general.

However, after 20+ years at sea, some of my worst experiences were trying to find places to fill up propane tanks. It's just not available, so it's a bad choice for anything but a lake boat.

I would love to do this though. You could run refrigeration using Norcold GA refrigerators and just have everything working in such a simple way, with no ethanol outboard issues.

But, until they have propane at the docks for filling up.... pretty tough when you run out of fuel.
