Re: [Electric Boats] 6.5 kw air cooled generator

Check out the 7.5kw air cooled diesel on affordablegenerators.com. We bought one just for the motor. The "silent" package comes with a series muffler, but is still quite loud.
Consider using power converters (Iota) and a gas genny instead. The 3kw commercial Honda unit works well, is very quiet, and light enough for easy storage below deck if left un-fueled. Never store a self-contained gas genny where the fuel or vapors can accumulate.

I was looking at a 10 hp air cooled diesel motor that I could use to power a Zena brand generator. Thinking lower cost than anything else I have been able to find in water coold packages. I think the Zena DC unit would be better than an AC and converting back to dc for charging batteries.
Anyone care give pros and cons ?
