Re: [Electric Boats] Aloha from Hawaii

Justin,

Be sure to find out how the drive is rated that you are considering buying.

In particular, what is the temperature of the electric motor after one hour at full rating power?

Most of the vendors should be able to give you this information.

That is the true rating of an electric sailboat motor.

The Perm Motor is capable of continuous power output as high as 18 - 20 KW, with a higher voltage system.   Our system at 10 KW is based on 48 volts and is a continuous rating.  The drive is capable of 15 KW on an intermittent situation but we have not yet mapped the intermittent ratings.

We will be posting more information on this very powerful motor in the near future.

Hi Justin

Your vessel is listed at 28,000lbs displ,  a 10kW system is not enough. Size the right ASMO Marine System and forget about the water cooling.
