Re: [Electric Boats] LiOn battery shelf life?

If you really meant LiFePo cells, and it sounds like you did.  liFePo cell have almost none existent self discharge rates.  I have a cell that is far older then 2015 and never charged,  once every few years I put a multimeter on it,  it is still nearly fully charged and reads 3.3 volts right now. Their  is a tiny amount of calendar lose for that chemistry if you use them or not, you might be down 1 or 2 percent off the new capacity. Either way they should be fine.  Put a multimeter on them and if they read higher then 2.5 volts, charge them up they are just fine.

Due to a set of issues, my motor install has been postponed a number of years.  As a result, the set of LiOn 100ah cells has been sitting on a shelf since March 2015.  There are 16 x 3v cells, never connected, never installed, never charged.  Are they still good?  Or am I out the money and the batteries?  Here in Honolulu HI there is a likely battery tech shop, so if there are any suggestions for tests etc. that would be welcome.  The system looked tidy, "Elite Battery 300AH 48v system, 2 15A chargers 48v, 16 100AH cells, full EMS".
