"Provision shall be made to contain incidental leakage and spillage of electrolyte.
Note: Consideration should be given to:
a. The type of battery installed (e.g. liquid or immobilized electrolyte)..."
I spoke with my USCG rep about this issue a few years ago. The AGMs I as going to use did not require boxes. All other requirements regarding installation (ventilation, restraint, insulation, location, etc.) still apply.
