you raise a couple of good points... more details on what we plan on doing.
The Boat is a 25ft Regal, we extended the hull to increase the water line and reduce the drag.
The old outboard drive was used for simplicity. We replaced the power head with 2 E-Tek permanent magnet motors to give us enough torque to spin the props. There is a gear reduction in the lower unit that will allow us to run motors @48 vdc continuously and spin the props @2400 rpm.
There are many unanswered questions to which this project was created.
There are several useful posts here but still I search for answers.
I have posted some unanswered questions and now await for a response.
