[Electric Boats] electric outboard/portable generator

 

Hello,
I am new to this and very naive about electrics but is it possible to run an electric outboard 24v from batteries in the normal way except when the power drops have a portable petrol generator to power it directly rather than recharging the batteries.Any help greatly appreciated but please keep it simple
