[Electric Boats] Shaft Seal Approach

 

What are the best ways to seal the shaft for the underwater part of a drive ?

This application is like the propeller shaft of an outboard, salt water environment, where the lower gear would run in oil, or alternatively the entire motor would be below water in a housing like the trolling motors are configured, where any water entry would destroy the motor quickly.

Are there shaft seals commercially available for this ?
