With the throttle wide open measure the voltage at the battery terminals and at the motor terminals. The difference multiplied by the currrent is the amount of power you are losing to the wires and connectors.

The wires get a liitle warm but not that much. You think that this means there is some resistance in the wires. Does this really
make such a difference, or in other words, can this take away that much power?
