Re: [Electric Boats] Re: BP oil spill, one year later... why are we into electric bo

TIM:

I usually stop at Little Bay right next to the Throgs Neck Bridge on the south side. While waiting for the ebb in the East River. Good holding and pretty protected in everything but, Northeast. Have stayed there in 20+ knots and did not move.  You want to ride the flood west in Long Island Sound. Then I usually start heading down the East River around the time the ebb starts at Hell Gate or Throgs Neck. Pity you don't have the electric running makes for a nice quiet ride down.  I 've anchored near Sandy Hook several times. Good holding but, bumpy in northerlies and a lot of fetch across the bay.  Horseshoe Cove is another cozy anchorage a little to the west of Sandy Hook too. Enjoy the Journey.

Mike,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good setup, and probably easier than dealing with wiring on a boat! I'll try it out on the kid's backyard playhouse before doing inside the house.

Slightly OT: I've been reading your blog from time to time. Do you know of any public anchorages around Throgs Neck and/or Sandy Hook? And what's the best tide to go through Hell Gate from LI Sound to NY harbor? My boat may be going down south to some friends. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to finish the EP conversion, so she'll do powered with an OB :(
