Thank you Fred. Yes there is a lot of mass I believe it weighs about 10 tonnes heavy for a 32 ft boat but our was built in 1972 then modified at some point to cope with ice. I believe the owner wanted to go south close to the Antarctic.

Sounds like your boat has a lot of mass to it. Most people use a 48v system since the CG regulations are not too involved. But for something bigger, you may consider going to 60v or 72 volts, and make sure you follow the appropriate  CG wiring regulations. At the higher voltage your amp draw will be lower. That will help with range. This where i would start if it were me.
