You do not need to go beyond 4/0 cables for the boat. You may not pull more that 300a at 48v but the system does have the capacity to draw up to 400a at 48v. We are not a fan of using anything but marine grade tinned cabling and avoid cheaper welding cables. Likely you will be ok with it but the total cost of cables and lugs is very low when compared to the cost of batteries and cables can really impact battery performance.
I can get you cables and lugs at our cost and you can pick them up locally anywhere in the US:
black and red 4/0 for $6.23/ft
Yellow 4/0 for $4.61/ft (good for the negative side)
black 3/0 for $4.95/ft
black and red 2/0 for $3.72/ft
