Follow your money. If you are going to be spending $$$ on the Beta, do you want to put your motor in jeopardy by doing something that will possibly not make the diesel as efficient as possibly. If you do not have the hybrid drive squared away and if it is not engineered and programed to the diesel, you will be negatively impacting the most expensive part of the project. I know of what I speak because I had a diesel electric hybrid and it is complex.
If a vendor tells you that they dropped the system because it was too complex and they have engineering and that they could not rely on the OEM to support the add on, why do you think you will be more successful without having an engineer design the system for you. There are likely several guys on this blog that understand what is required and I know that Electric Yacht has built and installed about 20 of them. Electric Yacht is not promoting them today because just the installation of a well built and tested system is too complex for the market.
Go diesel or go electric is my advice.
