I gave a second look to the torqeedo 48v at 3500 euros
The battery is at 5000 euros for 5000w, 40kg…. totally insane to carry that!! This is the cost of a full tank for a billionaire superyacht!!!
The Torqeedo outboard motor claiming 4000w 8hp is around 200mm, dia 100mm, 5 kg maxi. ( Torqeedo don't know the dimension and specification of the motor!).
The HPEVs AC-20 motor claiming 5000w is 30kg, 320mm, dia180mm
The germans must have found the way to modify the copper density!

I build a DIY LiFePO4 12V battery using CALB prismatic cells and a BMS board from Electric Car Parts Company. They have a wide selection of boards both by configuration (how many cells), and by power rating. I designed my pack to be able to supply or receive up to 40A current continuous.
I found a drybag from MEC that has a clear vinyl strip down the side, to act as a battery bag. I fashioned two rigid plastic plates to form a rigid gasket for attaching the charger, motor and accessory waterproof plugs to the bag. A dessicant pack in the bag helps control humidity.
I've been using this pack (the power bag) for over a year so far. I've tested running at near 40A for short periods, and run at 25-28A for 2.5 hours without problems.

I'm sure there are a lot of people around that will build custom battery packs for the ebike community, that could also build a pack suitable for an electric outboard to your requirements.
