If we can compare in this forum Hangkai vs Torqueedo, (Epropulsion vs Torqeedo makes more sense), I am not sure that we should compare german to Chinese in this electricboat yahoogroup.
Hangkai vs torqueedo
· Hangkai is 48v while Torqueedo outboard is 24v. We don't need a calculator to understand the difference between 24 and 48. All adult scooters are 48v, the 24v scooters are for kid with limited speed, range, weight users and no uphill. A 12v drill is amateur, and 24v drill is professional.
· Hangkai is easier to transport with a separate battery. You can leave the outboard in a shed or on the dinghy.
· You can find and replace the battery at a reasonable price, extend the range, charge home or on the boat inverter.
· The cost of the Hangkai battery is not dedicated to the outboard. It can be use as navigation or house battery, for a kid scooter, to go to work on an electric bike,…
· Motor in the water with Torqeedo means more maintenance (seal, shaft) and risk to damage ( hit a rock = flooding)
· Hangkai 3.6 hp 48v is around $229, Torqeedo cheapest 48v is at 3599 euros
· This outboard will be used once or twice a year, at the most, one week maybe for very few of us. The investment cost should be minimum.
· Most of the Hangkai parts will be ready available everywhere cheaply, easy to find on Ebay ( throttle, controllers, and motor, battery from electric bikes / scooters). Torqeedo owners will have to learn german to order expensive and specific parts from germany ( made in China?).
· Hangkai is without pretention, it looks like the common petrol outboard., Torqeedo presents an unusual design with useless GPS and USB features for short-range navigations. In my dinghy, I certainly keep my phone in my pocket.
Thank you for reading.

Chinese vs german?
According these previous points, there is an obvious better assessment of the general needs of every users, the day usage, the practicability, and realistic marketing price from the Chinese.
Knowing that the Chinese don't feel comfortable at sea, that most of the 48v electric bikes are above $1000, this $229 outboard is a real challenge.
Not racist nor nationalist I will not presume a superiority of the Asian Chinese brain over the arian german brain but tariffs on german products ( non-electric cars) in US could avoid you another swim in Normandy!!
Sorry to be so boring and thank you for reading to the end
