I have an Iain Oughtred designed "Grey Seal" , a magnificent 22 ft gaff rigged cutter , which I am using as a trolling boat. It does have a trailer , but is normally on a swing mooring.
Trolling certainly isn't what it was designed for , but I've adapted , and have had great success trolling with her.
I was out on her for an hour 2 days ago , and had my bag limit within an hour , I was hauling them in as fast as I could.
But , I want to get a boat now , built for fishing (probably an aft wheelhouse crayboat) , and set it up for motor sailing/trolling , with a hybrid motor/engine.
My only contribution to the discussion is I believe you should think seriously about the way you are going to use the boat.
And make it a "time and motion" study , whatever you have to do on the boat , you should be able to do it easily , with your eyes closed , so to speak.
