I bought a 10 kw thunderstruck motor system and am running 12 v 200 ah lead acids tied to make 48v Pushes my 40ft sailboat along nicely.

Hi Chris,
Sounds like an interesting project.
I suspect you won't get more than 3 knots from any trolling motor because their props have low pitch - like a truck stuck in first gear. Now if you change the prop to a higher pitch, you could see a noticeable speed increase. I'd also suggest a variable speed motor control (pulse-width modulated for brushed motors, or AC brushless motor controller).
Enigma is a heavy boat - maybe heavier than the recommended weight for your motor. It would be good to monitor how much current the motor draws.
I don't mean to discourage. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Figuring it out is part of the fun.
