Jonathan,
I would consider an Elco EP12 for about the same power or an EP20 to increase the horsepower. I have seen a few larger boats with EP40 at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival and they have seem to have plenty of power--the owners love them. I am planning on putting one into my boat. https://www.elcomotoryachts.com/ep-12.shtml
www.elcomotoryachts.com The Elco EP-12 electric inboard motor can power a boat up to 35' with its 12 HP equivalent. Available as an electric motor or hybrid electric motor. |
It is not as inexpensive as a DC motor option but much more durable using an AC 3-Phase motor.

Subject: [Electric Boats] Hello from the UK.
Hello,
I have a 26' Westerly Centaur sailing yacht. The engine had died, giving me an opportunity to see if electric conversion is viable for our location.
I need more runtime than just getting in & out of harbour, due to the geography of our cruising area.
Hope to learn and see interesting stuff here.
Thanks
Jonathan
