Keep in mind that SS stands for Steam Ship, as opposed to MV which stands for Motor Vessel.
The lowerable canopy is a good concept but difficult to implement in a manner that will stand up to high winds. Rigidity is important. The ability to tilt the solar canopy comes with a high price in terms of mechanical stability. Most such builds simply keep the solar array horizontal.
