Hi Mike, Good point.
Please remember that we need ballast in a sailboat and when one removes the diesel, transmission, heat exchanger, and fuel tank one needs to make sure that the boat maintains a good balance ratio. Just a thought.

The Elco is a great motor but has a weight issue when in a sailboat. The 260lb EP12 Induction motor would be a good size for the Westerly but you should consider the other alternatives including PMAC systems that would be about 75% lighter with the saved weight dedicated to your battery pack. Not sure of what systems are available in the EU as I know Bell and Thoosa (brush motor) are available in Europe.
