Hi Darin
45' long 11' beam 8t. weight , fin keel sailboat
48v is fine, safe and easy to find ( bike and scooter voltage)
I try to keep the motor between
-20 amps at 3 to 4 knots (1200rpm)
-50 amps( at 4 to 5 knots ( 2200rpm)
-150 amps is an extra thrust when required but ... battery, wire, heat, mechanical, bearing...?
Gearhead is 1/5, 19' prop
A very clean hull improves all performances
Hope it can help
Regards
Fred

Hi all:
I've got a 37 foot sloop I am going to convert to electric. If you have a 35 to 40 ft sailboat I'd love to know the following:
1. Nominal motor voltage (48V or 72V)?
2. For a given speed (say 5Kts) approximately how many amps does your motor draw?
Thanks in advance.
Darin
