Thought of another reason why I may not be able to lower a canopy on one side to angle it towards the sun. Without the complication of sliding joints, a canopy at 90° to the uprights when all uprights are at equal height is not going to be as "wide" if one whole side of the uprights is lowered (that whole a² + b² = c² thing). Pushed too far, it could permanently bend the uprights inward. This tilting canopy feature is looking less and less practical, although a sliding joint or rail is not that hard.
