Mike,

I would be concerned that the generator could pull expelled exhaust into the the cooling air. If you could pipe the exhaust a few feet away from the unit, it would reduce the chances of collecting harmful exhaust gas.

While the cooling fan air at least the lower part is lovered downward toward the deck. If this could be captured and if it is free of CO2 it could keep a helmsman  toasty and dry if it could be redirected say by a flexible piece of dryer hose. I also think it would be a good idea for CO2 detector should be installed for safety. Even in the cockpit area. I wonder if there are portable CO2 detectors (used by campers/hikers?) that are availible. Anyone know of any? Anyway this is just an idea at this point and I running it up the flagpole.
