I just finished a 7,500 mile cruise (Great Circle Loop) in a 30' sailboat with an atomic 4 gasoline engine. I am starting to research converting to electric to do the trip again. Batteries still sound like the issue to me, but we'll see how far they've come.
I will follow your thread with interest.

But from what i see here it doesent sound like a electric drive system
