[Electric Boats] Re: Battery Meter for Electric Boat

John,

The WU100 is designed to be placed directly into your system wiring. While the positive lead can be bypassed, the 14ga wire will be the negative wire between your battery and controller. This is necessary because of the internal shunt that is part of the black wires of the unit. The manufacturer's website discusses the modifications needed to install an external shunt, but this involves, breaking open the case, removing the shunt and patching new wires into the IC board. Of course, all of this voids any warranty provided by the company. The accuracy of the meter may also be altered by this modification. I'll include the manufactruer's website address again so that you can read all about this unit.
