Re: [electricboats] Looking Into Electric Boats

Michal,

So much of boating is all about "What do you want to do?"

Some key questions to think about are:
1) Where do you want to go (inland lakes, rivers, coastal, crossing oceans, etc?)
2) How many people?
3) Range - how far do you want to go?
4) How long will you be gone (just a few hours, or overnight/longer where sleeping/living accommodations are also requied)?
5) What speed are you comfortable with?  There are electric boats that go fast - but it's MUCH more practical to go at or below hull speed (often 5mph or slower).

There are many different kinds of crafts.  The answers to the questions above might help narrow down the choices a bit.

My personal experience has been that electric can be fun for small boats for a limited range - but that the battery can easily become the limiting factor on larger applications.

Enjoy the adventure!

Hi Michal, I don't know if you have been there yet, but the Plugboats website, all about electric boats and boating, might be a good place to start.
