Re: [electricboats] Battery Cables?

Ive not paid retail for cable for years. Our local recycling and metal yard has bins full of new wire remnants and cable remnants from industry. Ive see lengths up to 10 feet long or so of cable and much longer for wire. Sometimes I find just the right cable with lugs already crimped on. I think there's a couple boatbuilders in the Anacortes area that dump it off. Happy hunting.

West Marine is rather expensive. Check out Defender Marine or Hamilton

So I have the 10kw kit and my batteries on the way. I was looking at West Marine for battery cable, I am unsure what gauge I should use. Also there was a wide price variance for what appear to be the same gauge cable. Is there a reason to pay 13 dollars a foot for Ancor cable?

Thanks,
Willie
