Be careful with welding cable. It is made for flexibility and is very very fine wire strands with a large surface area that unless they are tinned will very quickly crumble to dust in a marine environment. I know this by experience. Also getting a good reliable crimp connection will be a problem.

If you must buy local, buy welding cable from a welding supply shop…much less expensive than West Marine.

So I have the 10kw kit and my batteries on the way. I was looking at West Marine for battery cable, I am unsure what gauge I should use. Also there was a wide price variance for what appear to be the same gauge cable. Is there a reason to pay 13 dollars a foot for Ancor cable?
Thanks,
Willie
