Regarding punching a square hole in steel, you can buy a tool that I used to call a chassis punch. You drill a normal round hole and then attach the two side of the punch with a strong bolt and nut. When you tighten the bolt, the punch punches a square hole in sheet metal. I have one I bought many years ago and still use occasionally. I assume they are still available but haven't looked. I think Greenlee was the brand. You can also drill a round hole and use a file to make it square, but doing so will teach you why factories invest in CnC machines.

Subject: [electricboats] Curtis Throttle housing/lever?
Has anyone built a proper housing for the Curtis 134 throttle from the Thunderstruck kit?
It's on my list as currently I'm just using a little mounting bracket to hold it near the helm and a little 8mm socket to turn the shaft forward and reverse. The whole thing is exposed to the weather so I disconnect it when not in use snd stow it. Time to build a weather proof housing and handle.
I realized I don't know how to punch a square hole in steel. I guess that's a job for a CnC machine. What have you guys done for the housing and throttle lever?
