Re: [Electric Boats] is there a maximum HP that is available in Electric Motor sizes for Outboards?

Unless are ok with about 30 seconds of run time, I think you will be disappointed. Search the archives for planning hull and the like. The motor and batteries required to do what you want are not practical unless you are talking about a very small one man hydrofoil boat.

Hi ,  im going to convert a 1985  125 hp force outboard to an electric motor,  Im pretty sure it will be a DC system, but i was wondering what size electric motor is best , and what is available for this type of outboard?   If i can,  i would like it to maintain its 30 knot top speed and handling.  Has anyone done this kind of conversion?  Is it reasonable for a DIY project? or should it be done by a shop.?
