[Electric Boats] Re: Retrofiting a classic

Thank you everyone for the mass of info you have sent I have allot to pour over now. I am trying to see with the advances in Technology if the same concept used in WW2 Subs can be adapted and downsized to work for a Pleasure craft using a military grade generator 10K Having its soul prpose being to charge the twin battery banks using a automated control system to monitor the battery levels charging as needed in the hope of increasing fuel efficiency ergo extending range. and the idea of complimenting with solar power is there but being in the NW that would be limited. The message that was sent showing the Hybrid motor system is very usefull and gives me another avenue of aproach to increase eficiency again thank you all it has given me much food for thought.

I do not wish for speed past the needs of coastal cruising. The plan is to replace the existing motors with electric motors installing two banks of batteries 1 for each motor and use an onboard gen set to charge the system. If this has been done or if it can be done what is/was needed to make it happen. On a side note this will be a liveaboard vessle.
