Of course you are correct, however when you are stuck with a prop in an aperture, with a down angle, with poorer flow in and out of the prop, and in my case direct drive DC brushless due to boat size, engine room space and funds - then the prop efficiency is basically already decided/limited for you, so in my case choosing a relatively inexpensive Lynch brushed DC, efficient motor along with other efficient components due to Voltage and current limitations of open framed air cooled direct drives - then running the motor I do makes sense. That is high torque/low rpm. The bottom line is there is no perfect solution, only compromise unless designing a boat and system from scratch in which case optimising is easier.
