Mike is right, assuming you've chosen reasonably efficient propulsion components, then the gearing/shaft speed/prop type is the key to thrust and overall system efficiency.
On my little boat 2 X 200 Ah Lithiums are fine for my needs but on a big boat that is power hungry compared to mine then TPPL type AGMs with battery balancers is less initial capital cost/risk than Lithiums, however the weight penalty (dead lead) and inability to charge fast to 100% (no lengthy absorbstion phase) might not be what you desire. Still with TPPLs you can partial cycle them with your diesel generator if fitted and do a full charge at the dock. Unless your thinking is to minimise pack size with Lithiums and run as a hybrid with a capable diesel genny most of the time, taking advantage of Lithium cycle life and high charge/discharge C rates?
