You might want to look at this system from Ruckmarine in California - check out the SCARIB Solar-Electric Dinghies. Their website is www.ruckmarine.com. 45w solar panel on a 10.6ft dinghy. 1.5kts under solar alone, 2.4hrs at 3kts with charged battery and solar. If I were on a dinghy for 2.4 hours, I would most certainly want a shade cover. Likely will be impacted by any wind conditions and added weight to the dinghy
It was a big hit at Strictly Sail Pacific two years ago.
