Re: [Electric Boats] Electric Yacht system

I have two banks of batteries for range and redundancy. So far (May '08) in the real world I haven't needed the second set for range. As I've said before I did have issues with a battery going bad in one bank and it was nice to have a healthy bank while working through the problems on the sick bank. By the way the sick bank is all better now.

Regarding the prop, I tried putting a 13" CDI Extendo on my E27 and it was too long (would not clear the rudder because of the extension) I think I have a 2" hull clearance with the 12" prop. When installing the motor you might be able to slide the prop shaft back enough to fit your larger prop or maybe get a longer shaft. But even at that I can't imagine you will have the hull clearance you need.

Please keep me up to date on what you do, if you can get a 14" prop on your Ericson 27 you might be able to motor around the world ;-)!
