Thanks for all your work Myles.
I think this forum works fine.
Our world needs to slow down and not expect an immediate response.
Have a good end of summer.

Not this again…
I almost deleted your post, Semicolon (since we've been thru this before and really, what's the point---I can't fix Yahoo.)
Sure (and I've said this to the group many times), posts may be approved immediately or could take days---as you say, there's only one Moderator approving these and, well, it's summer and there's a lot going on.
In the past week, my email client on my phone stopped letting me download email (just fixed last night)---consequently unless I used my home computer (which I didn't all week), I wasn't aware of posts waiting for approval. There were about 10 posts awaiting my approval.
You're not the first to suggest another forum---at least 2 have started other alternatives in the past 11 years that I know of. You can certainly take conversations there if you'd like. You're not the first to complain about long post times or having to be moderated. You are fairly unique in that while I can "unmoderate" virtually everyone in this group, that can't happen for you because of your choice of "no_reply" as your effective email address from Yahoo's perspective. Now (and I've said this before), while I used to regularly unmoderate new members and those who posted frequently and sensibly, I don't do that anymore since Yahoo changed their Group Management settings to disallow bulk unmoderating. To unmoderate anyone is a tedious process anymore. But it gets worse: Spammers with access to this group can spam this group in the name of any member---I found out this a couple years ago when someone spammed the list with curses and diatribe using my email return address. Since then, I've kept my own posts moderated just to try to keep that from happening. Still, the same clever idiot could do this again in anyone else's name…and that's too bad.
Anyway, I apologize for delayed posts folks---generally I like to get these approved a couple times a day at least. This past week was an anomaly.

This forum is amazing in its wealth of skills represented and the quality of the info that is presented. Where it really sucks is that posting and getting responses often takes <<days>>. Apparently Yahoo writes each comment on 3x5 cards and posts them in the mail (uses bulk rate at that)....
And why? because every post must be vetted by the moderator, who I know and have read the mea culpa is constrained by Yahoo policies. But then even then spam gets through like this muscle ad that just went through.
I think we should either have more than one moderator so we can have realtime dialogues or we should move forum to a better site. Woodenboat forum posts are immediate and they have a much more antiquated system than Yahoo's, I'd imagine. Anyway just a food for thought, this is no way intended as a criticism of the moderator as they are only one person. I would however recommend having five or six moderators if the backlog is the problem. If not and Yahoo can't fix the problems in short order then I would move to move this Forum to a better site where we can post pictures properly and build a more productive and enjoyable community.
Cheers, Bradley
