Hi,
I'm exploring options for outfitting a new 180 ton sailing vessel with electrical primary propulsion.
I'm looking for resources for vendors who have experience at this scale. The energy inputs would be from wind, solar, shore power, and bio-diesel generator(s). Outputs would go for propulsion and house. Any help finding resources for this power-up would be great.
Cheers,

I joined Yahoo, just to reply to this question to this group. Then I found I had to join the group, too. Yahoo threw an error every time I tried. The group is unapproachable and hence not "social".
To Bradley: I have been building a dream spec of sailboat for some time now... serial hybrid, which appears to be what you are looking at. I can not speak of propulsion motors, as the Elco Motors I have spec'd fall short of what you would be looking for in a 180 ton vessel.
However..... I think a forward looking person might look beyond the diesel generator. I won't say this is a must, but I think you'll like it:
They'll burn durn near anything and reports are they'll give you some great performance numbers, too. Built on Capstone technology.
Good luck,
