Re: [Electric Boats] Ridding Currents - Sun Powered Duffy

My 20' Duffy is in the photos section under heading "Sparky". Ours is a much older and lighter weight 1970s 20' Duffy Edison. Its got less beam aft and I use a Torqeedo 2.0 Cruise backed up by 4 x 6v 220aha Johnson Batteries, wet cells. We can cruise all day long at 4-6 knots, with 8 to 12 on board. Boat uses a dc/dc to charge another 12v wet cell for accessories including stereo and wine fridge.

Boat has no solar but uses a 24v charger which runs when I'm home.

Our house has a 5.5kW solar system which also powers a scooter, bike, Nissan Leaf and Rabbit convertible. All road vehicles use Lithium batteries mostly CALB 100aha cells with Brusa onboard chargers.

Love the Torqeedo its really quiet and super efficient. I can cruise on up to about 9-10 knots with amazing power yet very efficient at lower speeds. I don't think there is a better drive system for small craft.
